Tensed - Rajiv Menon Contemporary, LA

September 2025

Tensed interlaces the grammar of time—past perfect, present continuous, future tense—with the universal warning signals of red, green, and orange. These stripes, stark against the softness of the kasavu, pulse with urgency. The work becomes a woven barometer of the world’s current state: politically fraught, ecologically strained, and socially fractured. It gestures not only to the anxious temporality of the present moment but also to the precarious future of the handloom craft and the community that sustains it.
